Founded in 1952, the Aims of the Wells Civic Society are to:

• Promote and encourage civic pride in our City
• Encourage high standards of architecture and town planning
• Stimulate public interest in, and care for, the beauty, history and character of the City
• Encourage the preservation, development and improvement of features of general public amenity or historic interest.

We provide an interesting programme of monthly evening talks and a twice-yearly Newsletter that will appeal to anyone living or working in the Wells area.   Behind the scenes, the Executive Committee members strive to retain those aspects that make Wells special and to address those issues that make it second-rate, focusing particularly on planning issues.
